Genioplasty, also known as “chin augmentation surgery” or a “chin lift”, reshapes the chin for improved facial harmony.

It can reduce the appearance of a double chin and strengthen the profile to significantly enhance your appearance.

An incision will be placed inside the mouth (lower lip) to access the chin.

By undergoing a genioplasty, patients can alter the overall profile and symmetry of their face.

The chin will be cut and reshaped and positioned in an appropriate place depending on what type of result was planned (vertical or length increase).

Genioplasty

Genioplasty, also known as “chin augmentation surgery” or a “chin lift”, reshapes the chin for improved facial harmony. By undergoing a genioplasty, patients can alter the overall profile and symmetry of their face. It can reduce the appearance of a double chin and strengthen the profile to significantly enhance your appearance.

Genioplasty is used to correct the following problems:

  • Receding chins, or retrogenia
  • Overly large or extended chins
  • Chins that are too short or too tall
  • Misaligned or asymmetrical chins
  • Abnormal dental bite
  • Facial disharmony

Procedure:

An incision will be placed inside the mouth (lower lip) to access the chin. The chin will be cut and reshaped and positioned in an appropriate place depending on what type of result was planned (vertical or length increase). Then the bony chin will be secured to the jaw with screws and plates.

Anesthesia:

You'll remain comfortable throughout the entire procedure. In most cases, we use a general anesthetic so that you will sleep throughout the process. Local anesthesia with intravenous sedation is also an option for some patients.
